Search for neutrino oscillations at the Nuclear Power Reactor in Goesgen
Abstract
A detector comprising five liquid-scintillation-counter planes interleaved with four He-3 multiwire proportional chambers is used to measure the positron spectrum resulting from the reaction of electron antineutrinos with protons in the 2.8-GW power reactor at Goesgen, Switzerland. Two series of measurements are obtained, with the detector located 37.9 and 45.9 m from the reactor core; the results are presented in graphs and analyzed. No oscillations were found in a total of 20520 neutrino detections considered, and upper limits for the parameters Delta (m squared) and sin sq 2 theta are calculated.
