Problems in the quantum electrodynamics of intense fields
Abstract
The papers presented in this volume provide an overview of recent research related to the quantum electrodynamics of intense fields. Topics discussed include the Lagrangian function of an intense electromagnetic field, an electron mass shift in an intense field, threephoton interaction in intense fields, and radiation effects and their amplification in intense electromagnetic fields. Papers are also presented on a particle in a constant electric field and a plane electromagnetic wave propagating along the field; the formation of an e(+)e() pair during the collision of a fast muon with atoms; and the effect of a laser field on the beta decompositions of nuclei and other processes occurring in the absence of a field.
