Formation of molecular absorption bands in a multilayer atmosphere. II. Reduction to continuum.
Abstract
Using the Laplace transform the problem of determination of the distribution of photons by specific path lengths in a multilayer atmosphere is reduced to the solution of the stationary problem. Formulae for the mean path lengths are given. The case when the transmission function may be represented as a superposition of exponents is considered. The results obtained are illustrated by examples.
