Study on the flow with a swirl flow in a cylindrical combustor. II - Characteristics of turbulence for the swirl number
Abstract
This paper describes an experimental study on a swirl flow in a circular duct. The swirl flow is very important for gas turbine combustors, furnaces, etc. In the present study, the velocity and turbulence of the swirl flow in a circular duct was measured using a laser Doppler velocimeter, as the swirl number was varied from 0.45 to 1.35 by an axial flow type swirler. The present study clarified the characteristics of the turbulent intensity, Reynolds stress, turbulent energy, and turbulent dissipation ratio for the swirl numbers.
