The use of polarization transforming reflectors for far-infrared and millimeter waves
Abstract
Consideration is given to the FIR- and mm-wave performance of polarization transforming reflectors constructed from a free standing wire grid followed by a plane mirror whose surface is parallel to that of the grid. These devices are analyzed in terms of Jones matrices. It is shown that in some applications, the tunability of the device polarization response can compensate for unwanted distortion.
