The destruction of forests in the polish Sudetes Mountains by industrial emissions
Abstract
Since 1970 substantial damage has been observed in the standing timber of the Sudetes Mountains. situated at the border of Poland and Czechoslovakia, particularly in the Karkonosze and Izerskie ranges. It has been caused by inept forest administration before 1945 and increasing environmental pollution owing to the influence of industry. The following paper presents the effects and forms of preventative and rescue measures.
