The determination of the extinction coefficient profile in a scattering medium with slowly varying lidar characteristics
Abstract
Attention is given to a method for determining the extinction coefficient profile from lidar sounding data at several wavelengths for scattering media with lidar characteristics slowly varying along the sounding path. This method is characterized by the fact that it is based only on an analysis of the lidar signal form and does not require a priori knowledge of the lidar characteristics of the medium or of aerosol optical properties or aerosol particle shape.
