Instability development mechanism during the stimulated coherent scattering of an electromagnetic wave by a relativistic electron beam
Abstract
The increment of instability during the stimulated coherent scattering of an electromagnetic wave by the electrons of a relativistic beam is determined by first determining the explicit form of the intensity of an electric field scattered by an individual electron-radiator oscillating in the field of an incident pumping wave and then adding the electric fields of a density-modulated ensemble of radiators. In determining the instability increment, allowance is also made for the inverse effect of the scattered field together with the pumping wave field on the degree of the initial modulation of the electron density.
