Efficient diode-pumped CW and Q-switched single-mode fibre laser
Abstract
The efficient operation of an Nd(3+)-doped silica single-mode fiber laser pumped by a GaAlAs laser diode is reported. A CW output power in excess of 1 mW at 1.088 micron has been obtained with a slope efficiency of 33 percent. Q-switched operation of this device is also reported.
