Interaction of perturbation modes in the case of the Rayleigh-Taylor instability
Abstract
The Rayleigh-Taylor instability is investigated numerically using a simulation based on the large particle method. A solution is presented for the full system of Euler equations of the motion of a compressible medium, and results are reported for four numerically investigated cases of pair interaction of various waves in the form of a velocity perturbation. The dynamics of the development of the Rayleigh-Taylor instability is also discussed for the case where several perturbation modes are specified at the initial moment.
