A theoretical study of the Auger spectrum of diamond
Abstract
The Auger spectrum of diamond is investigated theoretically with a view to relating the electron states in the crystal to the intensity of the Auger spectra. The wave functions of the valence electrons are determined using two approaches, the cluster approach and the band approach, and allowance is made for electron relaxation effects. It is noted that the cluster approach is to be preferred in theoretical investigations of Auger electron emission since it allows the identification of the atom where the Auger transition takes place.
