Pulse control of flexible multibody systems
Abstract
An active pulse method for controlling impact-induced vibrations in flexible multibody systems is developed analytically, using the equations of energy and momentum balance for the impacting components to determine the pulse as a function of generalized coordinates and velocities. The derivation of the equations for the method is described in detail, and numerical results demonstrating the effectiveness of the control in a sample problem involving touchdown vibrations of a two-dimensional aircraft model are presented in graphs.
