The numerics of a numerical code called GARFIELD (Grumman Aerospace RF fIELD code) designed to calculate the three-dimensional structure of ICRF fields in axisymmetric mirrors is presented. The code solves the electromagnetic wave equation for the electric field using a cold plasma dispersion relation with a small collision term to stimulate absorption. The full wave solution including E·B is computed. The fields are Fourier analyzed in the poloidal direction and solved on a grid in the axial and radial directions. A two-dimensional equilibrium can be used as the source of equilibrium data. This allows us to extend previous studies of ICRF wave propagation and absorption in mirrors to include the effect of axial variation of the magnetic field and density.
