Kinetic theory approach of the multiple plane jets turbulent mixing analysis
Abstract
The pdf of the fluid elements in velocity space along with some other turbulent properties of multiple plane jets were revealed in the present analysis. A turbulent kinetic theory originated by Chung (1969) and the Green's-function method developed by Hong (1975) were employed to solve the present problem. Some calculated mean quantities were compared with the available experimental data and shown to be in reasonably good agreement. From the pdf and the corresponding turbulent correlations, it seems that turbulent properties can be better understood via a kinetic-theory approach. The present analysis also provides some fundamentals for further application to multiple-plane-jet turbulent combustion.
