Photopolarimetric Observation of the BL Lac Object PKS 2155-304
Abstract
Photopolarimetric observations of the BL Lacertae object PKS 2155-304 have been made on a one-week observational run. The amount of linear polarization was found to be drastically variable from 0 percent to 8 percent. At the same time the brightness of the object changed by 0.1 magnitude, the change being larger when the polarization was highest. By considering observations made earlier by other authors we have been able to disclose a long-term variation of the polarization angle.
