Predictions of the turbulent boundary layer using the 'k-epsilon' model and model of coherent structures near the wall
Abstract
Procedures for calculating the turbulent boundary layer using models of coherent structures in the near-wall portion of the boundary layer flow are described. The equations of motions for defining the shear flow of the two-dimensional boundary layer are presented. The observed characteristics of the two periods of flow motion in the wall region are discussed. Graphs displaying the variations in the shape factor and momentum thickness in a boundary layer and the velocity profile in a boundary layer are provided. The data predicted with the models are compared with experimental results; it is observed that the data correlate well.
