Ablation of charred materials in ionized air environment
Abstract
A method for computing the thermochemistry ablation parameter of charred materials in an ionized air environment is presented. Using the present method, the ionization properties of the gases at the ablation surface of charred materials and the boundary conditions at the surface can be obtained in order to calculate the ionized ablation gas boundary layer. The method can also be used to design a heat shield.
