Formulas for venting or charging gas from a single volume
Abstract
Formulas previously developed for the pressure in a venting gas tank as a function of time, while simple for the case of a choked flow, are noted to be complex for the unchoked case. Following Howell and Weathers' (1964, 1970) statement that flow equations for subcritical (unchoked) flow cannot be solved as easily, but may be evaluated by graphical integration, analytical expressions are presented for the integrals in question.
