UVBY-beta photometry of all stars earlier than G1 and brighter than V = 12 mag in Selected Area 132 containing Scorpius X-1
Abstract
In a continuing photometric investigation of the spatial distribution of solid interstellar material all stars in SAl32 (l, b) = (359.°0, + 24.°5) brighter than V = 12 mag and earlier than G1 in the Potsdam Spektral Durchmusterung have been observed in the uvbyβ system with the Danish 1.5 m telescope at La Silla. The transformations to the standard uvby system are established from observations of primary standards through a gray filter. An extra transformation is thus introduced. The use of a neutral filter does, however, not reduce the accuracy of the programme stars. A preliminary indication of the character of the dust distribution in this direction may be obtained from the (b-y) versus β diagram. The smallest reddening values seem to be caused by dust in some local, sheet-like structures.
