Dynamical friction between the ISM and the system of stars
Abstract
The authors derive an equation describing the largescale motion of the interstellar gas in the presence of smallscale fluctuations, which are considered to be due to the gravitational interaction of the ISM with the system of stars. Of particular interest is a friction term describing the momentum transfer between the interstellar gas and the stellar component due to the smallscale fluctuations.
