Principle of SAR and X-SAR performance. The X-SAR/SIR-C mission. Some remarks concerning organization aspects
Abstract
The principles of SAR are recalled and its technical limitations are reviewed. Specifications of the SIR-C mission for X-band remote sensing are given: 9.6 GHz frequency; VV polarization; 25 m geometrical resolution; 10 to 45 km swath width; viewing angle 15 to 60 deg; and radiometric resolution of 2.5 dB at sigma = - 18 dB. Project organization is described.
