Preliminary results of a novel computational procedure for incompressible flow
Abstract
Preliminary results of application of a novel computational procedure for incompressible flow are presented. Several of the key ingredients of the new procedure are presented in the paper. The procedure makes extensive use of the local flow physics in the formulation of the discrete equation system for the fluid flow problem. Attributes of the method include co-location of all variables in a primitive variable formulation, conservation based derivation of the governing discrete equations, geometric flexibility of a finite element formulation, and an accurate, skewed upwinding procedure. The procedure has been demonstrated by application to three test problems including an inviscid flow problem. The results of application to all three test problems are excellent.
