Laser diagnostics applied to combustion systems
Abstract
Laser-diagnostic techniques have been successfully applied to combustion systems. Optical-penetration problems occur with heavy particulate loading unless lasers at long wavelengths are employed. Summary tables are presented, showing laser techniques that have been or may be applied for measurements of population temperatures, mean hydrostatic pressure, partial densities in gas mixtures, species concentrations, density gradients, velocity components, particle sizes, flow visualization, and velocity-density correlation.
