Pressure fluctuations in a turbulent separated flow
Abstract
This paper presents preliminary results for the effects of free stream turbulence on a separated-and-reattaching flow, with special emphasis on the generation of surface pressure fluctuations. Data are confined mainly to the surface immediately behind separation, where pressures are dominated both by a low frequency shear layer flapping and also by the stream turbulence immediately outside the shear layer, and to reattachment where pressures are principally controlled by the large scale irregular shedding of vorticity.
