Local solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations in separated flows
Abstract
An algorithm is outlined which enables one to determine local solutions of the Navier-Stokes and continuity equations by a Taylor series expansion about any point in the flow field. The algorithm can be extended to arbitrary order of series expansion and can be applied to three-dimensional steady and unsteady flow. The algorithm and associated algebraic software has been tested here up to 9th order for some simple two-dimensional flow cases. The method gives analytical solutions for separation bubbles and simple three-dimensional flow cases are shown.
