Some possibilities of the use of CW radiation in the laser sounding of the atmosphere
Abstract
A CW technique for the sounding of the atmosphere is described which employs a noncoaxial monostatic lidar, making it possible to obtain the spatial distribution of the echo signals. An equation of CW laser sounding is derived for the case of a slit diaphragm of the field-of-view of the receiving antenna. The dependence of the rms measurement error on the atmospheric and lidar parameters is analyzed, and it is noted that this measurement technique has been implemented in full-scale experiments.
