Development of a continuous mass flow measuring flow
Abstract
Source effectiveness and geometry studies are performed in order to prepare to measure the performance of a mass flow meter by the count rate of activated oxygen detected downstream. Several neutron sources are considered for the purpose. Shielding problems were investigated. Heat transfer calculations were performed to evaluate the duty of a refrigeration unit that will be required to maintain the neutron source at its optimum operating temperature. A densitometer source and shielding has been sized.
