High power fiber optic laser anemometry
Abstract
Power transmission measurements in monomode optical fibers are reviewed. Hazards influencing the design and construction of high power fiber laser anemoneters are listed. It is predicted that monomode optical fibers capable of delivering hundreds of milliwatts of CW laser light over tens of meters to laser anemometer measuring regions will be developed in the near future. These will form the basis of multiplexable, miniaturized and relatively inexpensive laser anemometer optics.
