High efficiency indium phosphide solar cells with thermally evaporated cadmium sulphide window layers
Abstract
Indium phosphide is a material which is close to the optimum as an absorber of solar radiation, while cadmium sulphide is widely used as a window layer. This paper reports a study of heterojunction solar cells formed by thermal evaporation of cadmium sulphide on to single crystal wafers of indium phosphide. The paper discusses the cell performance, with reference to the indium phosphide doping level and the deposition parameters of the cadmium sulphide layer.
