Electronic power conditioner for carcinotrons
Abstract
The design requirements for carcinotrons are examined. High output frequency stability, which is controlled by varying the delay line voltage, is needed for optimum carcinotron performance. A diagram of the heterodyne receiver system is presented. The preregulator of the system consists of two regulating inverters which provide 50 volt RMS 20 KHz ac-power bus each. The line voltage supply which is between 4-10 kV and is controlled by a u-processor is analyzed. The rectifier bridge, low and high voltage filtering, and EMC transparency are studied. The anode wehnelt and filament supplies are contained in a floating box. The grounding scheme for the system is described. The PLL amplifier, and mass and power budgets are discussed.
