Study of a resonant converter using power transistors in a 25 kW X-ray tube power supply
Abstract
A converter to feed an X-ray tube (25 kW, 140 KV) from the industrial mains power supply (380 V, 50 Hz) is described. The generator consists of an inverter using power transistors and a transformer-voltage multiplier set connected by a series resonant circuit. The control logic of the transistors gives them the dual properties of those of thyristors. An analytical study of this system allows the characteristics of the converter to be predetermined.
