Turbulent flow of non-Newtonian fluids in thin film
Abstract
A modified k-epsilon model is used to determine the turbulent flows of non-Newtonian fluids. Velocity profiles are obtained for planar flow. The results for the Newtonian case agree well with the results of the Newtonian turbulent lubrication theory established previously. Non-Newtonian fluids, according to the present results, seem to reduce the friction factor.
