Upwind schemes using various formulations of the Euler equations
Abstract
A discussion is given of various aspects of 'upwinded' numerical methods for one- and two-dimensional compressible flow problems. The unifying viewpoint is that 'fluctuation', or lack of which are superpositions of simple wave solutions. The analysis is shown to be much simplified by using non-conservative forms of the equations. This may help to make the methods more widely understood and accepted, and may also be directly applicable to some problems of technical interest.
