Diffraction of a spherical shock wave by a plane
Abstract
This paper presents an analytic solution to the locus of Mach triple points of diffraction of a spherical shock wave by a plane using the diffraction theory proposed by Whitham. Meanwhile, it gives an analytic solution to the locus of Mach triple points of diffraction of a plane shock wave by a sphere. The theoretical result obtained in this paper agrees with the experimental results given by Bryson. In addition, an approximate theory for very blunt bodies is proposed.
