Heat transfer measurements in steady state facilities
Abstract
Heat transfer measurement techniques used to study gas turbines, particularly blade cooling, are reviewed. Surface temperature methods; transient methods; pulse methods; and mass transfer analogy methods are covered. Promising techniques for steady state facilities include infrared camera system for low and high temperature tests; pulse methods for full scale tests; and the swollen polymer technique for fundamental investigations under ambient conditions.
