A phase-locked 65-115 GHz Gunn oscillator
Abstract
For use as a local oscillator on the Hat Creek millimeter interferometer, a phase locked second harmonic Gunn oscillator has been developed which is mechanically tunable from 65-115 GHz. The oscillator's output power is greater than 2 mW over most of its operating range, and exceeds 10 mW from 80-100 GHz. The oscillator is constructed using a commercially available, packaged GaAs Gunn diode which costs approximately $250.
