A three dimensional interferometric imaging system for the spatial characterization of lightning discharges
ONERA has developed a three-dimensional imaging system for the spatial characterization of lightning discharges. This system is based on the combination of interferometric angular locations given by two distant measuring sites. Both sites are equipped with a data acquisition and preprocessing digital system permitting a high rate acquisition all along a thunderstorm. This paper discusses the technique, performances, and expected applications of the three-dimensional imaging system.
