Energy extraction from the electron beam in a free electron laser resonator Gaussian mode
Abstract
Preliminary analysis results of energy extraction and gain of a free electron laser (FEL) in the presence of a TEM(00) Gaussian mode are presented. The result is applicable to all values of the parameter q (length of the undulator L divided by the Rayleigh range) in second order of the input field. Simple analytical approximate expressions for the small signal gain valid for q not greater than 2.8 are also presented.
