Vibronic solid state lasers - Transition metal ions in perowskites
Abstract
An evaluation is conducted of the laser material potential of such transition metal ions as Co(2+), Cr(3+), Ni(2+), and V(2+), when used as the dopants for cubic fluorine perowskites in IR, tunable vibronic lasers. CW lasing characteristics are presented for KZnF3:Co(2+), KMgF3:Co(2+), and KZnF3:Cr(3+) tunable lasers operating in the 1.65-2.11, 1.62-1.9, and 0.775-0.825 micron ranges, respectively.
