Numerical simulation of turbulent structures in a mixing zone
Abstract
A numerical analysis in two dimensional flow of the mixing zone obtained with a profile presenting an inflexion point is presented. The algorithms and the models used are discussed. Artificial excitation of the mixing zone is also examined. Visualization techniques are used to show the evolution of the mixing zone. The models are confirmed and the role played by the first subharmonic in the dynamics of the mixing zone is shown.
