Beta response of selected instruments
Abstract
The beta measurement evaluation and upgrade program managed by Pacific Northwest Laboratory (PNL) for the Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Nuclear Safety is focusing upon the identification and resolution of problems associated with the measurement of beta dose at DOE facilities. As part of this project, commonly used instruments and instruments under development are being evaluated with regard to their beta response and general performance characteristics. This paper describes test results for accuracy, beta energy response, angular response and general performance characteristics for selected instruments.
