Semiempirical analysis of fuel-air ratio distribution downstream of a plain orifice injector under nonuniform crossflow
Abstract
The Cao et al (1982) semiempirical analysis of liquid fuel distribution downstream of a plain orifice injector has been improved through the incorporation of experimental data for plain orifice atomization under cross flow, and consideration of the effect of nonuniform cross flow. The model is thereby rendered capable of predicting the maximum value of the fuel-air ratio distribution and its position; the results obtained for the position of maximum fuel-air ratio changing with the averaged velocity for the same profile are in good agreement with experimental data. These results are pertinent to combustor design development.
