On the analogy of heat, mass and momentum transfer in separated flows
Abstract
The validity of the analogy of heat, mass, and momentum transfer in separated flows is investigated through a comprehensive study of local mass transfer in separated regions with flow reattachment using a chemical visualization technique. It is found that in separated flows, the analogy of heat and mass transfer is valid only for identical Sc or Pr numbers. The analogy of momentum transfer with heat and mass transfer is generally not fulfilled; the deviations (by a factor of 10 and more) depend on the type of separated flow and Sc, Pr, and Re numbers.
