Automatic Measurements of Nuclear Tracks in Plastic Detectors: Status and Future Possibilities
Abstract
This paper describes an automatic measuring system for plastic nuclear track detectors which is based on digital image analysis techniques. Its applications in several fields of nuclear physics and cosmic-ray physics are discussed. A survey of experiments investigating anomalons, cosmic ray LET-spectra, and the isotopic composition of the cosmic radiation is given. Finally an outlook to future possibilities of this experimental technique is given.
