High energy physics
Abstract
The tagged-photon beam effort consists of photoproduction and charm photoproduction. Progress in the broadband neutral beam program included setting up the production data analysis for hadronic charm production, and design, prototyping, procurement and fabrication of the electromagnetic calorimeter for photoproduction at the Tevatron. The electron-positron effort included data-taking and physics analysis, fabrication of a trigger/vertex drift chamber for the Mark II upgrade, and prototype studies. Studies included formal work in supergravity, supersymmetry phenomenology, lattice gauge theory approaches to hadronization, investigations of the behavior of the quark-gluon plasma in the early Universe, in heavy ion collisions, and on the lattice, and a first look at the real-time behavior of quantum systems out of thermal equilibrium. The equivalence of inertial and passive gravitational mass of high sensitivity in a cryogenic system is investigated.
