Application of spectral methods to compressible and incompressible fluid dynamics
Abstract
The implementation of spectral methods in flow problems is discussed. Time-marching techniques for hyperbolic equations, iteration techniques for elliptic problems, spectral multigrid methods, and shock waves are considered. Theoretical aspects of the application of spectral methods to imcompressible flow problems are included. Implicit time differencing and implicit time splitting are discussed. It is shown that spectral methods are efficient tools to deal with turbulence problems.
