The turbulent time scale for turbulent flow calculations
Abstract
A turbulent time scale is proposed as the second turbulent variable in two-equations turbulence models. A governing equation for the time scale is derived and modelled. The modelling is based on comparison of terms with the turbulent energy equation, and is simple. Solutions for one-dimensional cases agree with experimental data, and facilitate estimates of the empirical constants.
