Effects of geometrical size and configuration of airblast atomizers on atomizing performance
Abstract
The effects of airblast atomizer geometry on liquid spray mean drop size Sauter mean diameter and distribution were experimentally investigated by means of prefilming atomizers. On the basis of the results obtained, two empirical correlations were obtained for the Sauter mean diameter and drop size distribution parameters. Attention is given to the effects of liquid film thickness and such other factors as airflow mass ratio through outer and inner passages of the atomizer and initial degree of liquid swirl within the atomizer.
