Numerical solution of problems concerning the thermal convection of a variableviscosity liquid
Abstract
A stabilizingcorrection scheme is constructed for integrating the fourthorder equation describing the dynamics of a viscous incompressible liquid. As an example, a solution is obtained to the problem of the solidification of a liquid in a rectangular region with allowance for convective energy transfer in the liquid phase as well as temperaturedependent changes of viscosity. It is noted that the proposed method can be used to study steadystate problems of thermal convection in ingots obtained through continuous casting.
