The effect of mutual coupling on interferometer accuracy
Abstract
A procedure which corrects the effects of mutual coupling on interferometer direction finding systems is proposed. The derivation of the equations for estimating the coupling of antennas is presented. The calculation of the perturbation to the phase measurements caused by mutual coupling is described. Two examples which examined the effects of mutual coupling on full size antenna pairs on a large ground plane and five monopoles are provided. Good correlation between measured and predicted phase perturbations is detected.
